Experience the exciting world of bees with Dieter in a private castle ten minutes from Brussels!
Dieter has always been passionate about the environment. After a one-year course in Leuven and two years in Brussels, he became a semi-professional beekeeper in 2011 and is responsible for the bee garden in Jette. He owns about thirty hives in several apiaries in Flanders. He is also the author of the exhibition 'To bee or not to bee' that he produced with GoodPlanet.
The activity will take place in the private castle of Bever, the meeting point is at his home in Laeken (metro Stuyvenberg). After a short introduction, Dieter will lead you to the apiary where you will visit a beehive. He will explain how the hive works and how the bees are organised through the seasons, the importance of honey bees and solitary bees, and give you tips on how to help the bees.
Finally, you will taste delicious honey coming from different continents ! .
NB: The activity will depend on the weather conditions. If necessary, the activity will be postponed, you will be informed at the latest two days in advance. This activity is not recommended for people allergic to insect bites. Jackets are provided, but come dressed in long trousers and closed-toe shoes.

Meet Dieter
Ceramist & Spinner
Dieter is a creative person with a love of nature. Beekeeper, ceramist and photographer, he practices all three on a daily basis!Â
He fell in love with nature when he was younger and it's been a passion ever since. This is why a lot of his personal photographic projects have focused on capturing the beauty of nature, as well as various environmental issues.Â
His concern for the environment led him to become a beekeeper. Dieter has about thirty hives and loves teaching others about his craft.Â
More recently, his love of the Earth and its elements led him to the world of ceramics. Being able to create something beautiful from clay fascinates him. And he's more than happy to share his knowledge and expertise with you!

Merci Dieter
