In this three and a half-hour workshop at Molten 1090, hosted by experienced artisan Laura, participants have the opportunity to learn the art of glass blowing. The workshop begins with an introduction to Molten 1090 and Laura and Emily, the sister team behind the brand.Ā
Laura then demonstrates the glass blowing process, providing a practical overview of the techniques and tools involved. She focuses on teaching the safe use of specialised tools in the hotshop, including the punty, blowing iron, jacks, glass tweezers, and marver.
Participants then get the chance to create their own glass pieces. They can choose from a variety of colours and are guided through the process of shaping and blowing their creations. The workshop is designed to be hands-on, allowing each participant to craft a unique item such as a paperweight, bauble, or small vessel.
The finished glass pieces will be ready for collection one week after the workshop, offering a lasting reminder of the skills and creativity explored during the session.

I'm posting to agree with all the other comments. I'd never worked with glass before and I made two pieces of which I'm very proud.

I had a wonderful afternoon with Laura and Emily yesterday, from the warm welcome when I arrived to leaving with two of Laura's beautiful pieces, which I treated myself to. Emily was a great hostess, ensuring we were warm, safe and topped up with teas, coffees and water. Laura is a gifted glassmaker and a natural teacher, keeping us fully involved in the process and gently guiding us to get the most out of the experience. I am looking forward to seeing the results of my work next week and will definitely be signing up for the more advanced workshop. I attended a glassmaking experience 11 years ago but this was a much more hands-on experience. I can't recommend it highly enough. Thank you to Laura and Emily for such a fabulous experience and I look forward to seeing you again soon.

Really great experience! Emily and Laura are so lovely and took really good care of us. We were taught the basics of glass shaping and got to make 2 items in our colours of choice. Excellent way to spend an afternoon!

4 of us came along and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We felt very welcomed and so well hosted by Emily. Laura was so great with each of us giving us the time and help we needed and so well explaining what we needed to do and how to do it. We are so happy to have our finished pieces to keep and remember our happy afternoon. Our thanks to both Lauraās and Emily for making it such a good experience.

I bought the workshop for my partner as a birthday gift which we took together and we absolutely loved it! Laura and Emily are both incredibly warm, friendly and charming. The studio is beautiful and the little touches like welcome tea and biscuits, with a glass of wine at the end made it feel really special. I'm amazed at how well my pieces came out, they're really quite beautiful. I would highly recommend and I'm keen to go back and do a more advanced class in the future.

This is a very good workshop and experience. Well organised, lots of explanations and help to understand a couple of foundational techniques about glass work, and the opportunity to do 2 objects to take home (well, a few days later as they need to be properly finished by the expert before being ready to grace your home).
