Your unique patch to repair the garment of your choice

The workshop in detail

  • 2h30
  • 15 years min.
  • 3 to 6 participants
  • Up to 10 people for a privatization
  • This two-hour workshop, hosted by textile designer Giny, offers a unique opportunity for participants to delve into the art of textile repair and embellishment. Tailored to cater to individual needs and preferences, the workshop begins with an assessment of the participant's personal items - be it jeans, jumpers, denim jackets, or bags - identifying what they wish to repair or enhance.

Participants then choose a technique that resonates with their personal style. The workshop caters to all, from those who appreciate the intricacies of small, precise work to those who desire to make a bold statement with large stitches. Whether attendees have prior experience in textile techniques or are complete novices, the workshop is structured to accommodate all skill levels.

Throughout the session, Giny provides step-by-step explanations, as well as valuable tips and tricks pertaining to fabric and thread choices. Participants are introduced to a variety of techniques, including sashiko and boro, the use of water-soluble prints for pattern transfer, various embroidery methods, and the use of mesh tubing and embroidery hoops. Emphasis is placed on hand techniques, ensuring a deeply personal and relaxing experience.

By the end of the workshop, attendees will have created a unique patch, ready to be applied to their jeans, or will have completed a personal repair on a chosen item of clothing. This experience not only leaves participants with a beautifully repaired or enhanced piece but also equips them with the skills and confidence to undertake their own creative projects at home, continuing their journey in the timeless art of textile repair and decoration.

    Wecandoo - Meet Giny

    Meet Giny

    Textile designer

Meet Giny, a passionate artisan with a heart for crafting and a commitment to sustainability.

Initially trained in handicrafts as a teacher, she found limited opportunities upon graduating. Undeterred, she pursued a career as a caregiver while nurturing her creative spirit through her personal studio.

Over the past decade, Giny's studio became a place where her creativity flourished. As she honed her skills, she witnessed a steady growth in her craft. In 2019, Giny made the bold decision to leave her caregiving career behind and devote herself entirely to her studio.

Central to Giny's artistic ethos is her commitment to sustainability. She's dedicated to breathing new life into existing materials, embracing a waste-free and transparent approach to her work. From repurposing boat canvas to salvaging sample fabrics from interior shops to create toiletry bags, Giny transforms overlooked materials into timeless pieces of art.
