    Meet Malou Dronkers

    Chocolate Makers

Wild Child Cacao was founded by Malou & Eva in the heart of Amsterdam.

Malou, one-half of this dynamic duo, is the craft chocolate maker. Her journey began unexpectedly in Costa Rica, where she found herself picking up a cacao fruit from the roadside. A friend turned these beans into chocolate, sparking her curiosity and paving the way for her love affair with cacao.

Determined to understand cacao from bean to cup, she delved deep into the world of cacao. Her scientific background led her to cacao conferences, research on sustainable cacao practices, and even a cacao bean grading course. She experimented with beans from around the world, but her heart settled on the organic beans from the Dominican Republic, perfect for crafting a ceremonial-grade cacao.

The heart of Wild Child Cacao lies in the Dominican Republic, sourced from the Öko-Caribe organic farmers' cooperative. The farmers receive extensive support, and their meticulous cacao selection and fermentation create a rich, full-bodied flavour.

In 2022, Malou visited the Dominican Republic to learn about the fermentation process and connect with the locals, even planting cacao trees. This commitment to understanding their cacao at its source ensures a truly exceptional product.

Join Eva for a captivating tour-workshop where she shares her extensive knowledge of cacao, while Malou conducts the chocolate-making and cacao-making workshops, including a tour. Wild Child Cacao focuses on crafting chocolate and 100% pure cacao, offering a unique and flavourful experience you won't find anywhere else.
