  • Join Kim for a four-day pottery workshop that will take you through the entire process of creating your own set of ceramic mugs or bowls on the potter's wheel.

This workshop is perfect for anyone who wants to explore their creative side or learn the art of pottery, whether you're a complete beginner or an experienced potter. The workshop consists of four sessions, with each session building on the skills learned in the previous one.

In the first session you'll learn the basics of working with clay on the potter's wheel. Kim will start by teaching you how to centre the clay on the wheel, a crucial step in shaping your pieces. You'll practise this fundamental skill and begin to form the basic shape of your cups or bowls.

In the second session you will continue to refine your throwing technique to ensure your pieces are symmetrical and well formed. Kim will provide individual guidance and support to help you improve your technique and gain confidence.

The third session focuses on trimming your creations. You'll learn how to add a foot to the bottom of your cups or bowls to give them a professional and finished look. This step is essential for the stability and aesthetics of your ceramic pieces.

In the fourth and final session you'll explore the art of glazing. Kim will share her tips and tricks for applying glazes to your pottery to ensure an even and beautiful finish. You'll have the opportunity to choose your own glazes and personalise your pieces.

A few weeks after the final session, when your pieces have been fired and glazed, they'll be ready for you to collect. You'll leave the workshop with a set of dishwasher-safe, handmade ceramic mugs or bowls to use at home.

Don't miss this opportunity to learn from a talented artist and create something truly unique. Sign up for Kim's four day pottery workshop and discover the joy of working with clay!

Note: this workshop consists of four sessions. The first session is the one shown when booking. The second, third and fourth session all take place respectively one week later, at exactly the same time. The price of the workshop includes all four sessions.

    Wecandoo - Meet Kim

    Meet Kim

    Ceramist

Kim studied illustration at the Hogeschool voor de Kunsten in Utrecht. After completing her studies in both art academy and ceramics, she delved into the world of clay. During and alongside her studies, she worked in the specialty coffee industry where she not only learned the value of good food and drink but also the importance of well-designed ceramics.

It was during her final year of study that she discovered her passion for ceramics. After graduation, she began working as a mentor at Studio Pansa, a ceramics workshop in Amsterdam Oost. There, she honed her skills through courses and answered the many questions of members. In a short period, she gained vast knowledge about the craft. She decided to focus entirely on her ceramics and illustration work as a freelancer, leaving her job in the hospitality industry.

Kim now works daily in her studio in Amsterdam Nieuw-West at Contact Amsterdam, where she not only creates ceramics but also teaches pottery classes.

Her love for ceramics shines through in her work, and her talent is evident in the unique pieces she creates. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced potter, Kim's workshops are a great way to learn new techniques and get creative with clay.
