Been inspired by the Great Pottery Throw Down ceramic house challenge? Join Lucy and learn the art of hand building and create your own.
You'll start by meeting Lucy in her cosy, welcoming studio in the heart of Brighton. She'll introduce you to her creative process and share her approach to ceramics.
You'll then have time to brainstorm and sketch your ideas for your ceramic house. Lucy will guide you through this step, helping you to develop a design that reflects your style and creativity. Once you're happy with your concept, it's time to get your hands in the clay! Step by step, you'll learn how to cut, shape and mould clay to bring your ideas to life.
Once you've built the structure of your house, it's time to decorate it. Whether you want to add shapes, patterns or unique textures, Lucy will help you explore different techniques to make your piece your own.
Once your house is finished, you'll hand it to Lucy to be fired and glazed, choosing between her three colour options. If you'd prefer to be taught to glaze it yourself, you can return for a glazing session for an additional fee.
Your ceramic house will be ready for collection 6-8 weeks after firing and glazing, or you can have it sent to you for a small fee.
So come and join Lucy to create something special, that you will treasure forever!

Meet Lucy, a talented artist who found a new creative path during difficult times. Lucy originally studied painting at the University of Brighton, but when the pandemic hit and studio spaces were closed, she turned to filmmaking as a way to continue creating in a smaller space. Now back in her Brighton studio, Lucy has embraced ceramics, making most of the materials and space she'd missed. You can see her story-telling style come through in her personal work.
Her studio, located in the heart of Brighton just off Bond Street, is a bright and welcoming place.
Lucy is passionate about more than just making; she wants to inspire people to think deeply about the creative process and the ideas behind their work. For her, it's not just about the finished product, but also about enjoying the journey of creation and exploring new ideas.
Whether you're new to ceramics or an experienced maker, Lucy's workshops offer a supportive and inspiring environment in which to learn.
