Meet Kira.

Kintsugi artist

London

Kira, an artisan with a unique blend of skills, has been practising the ancient art of Kintsugi for six years. Her journey into this craft was a shift from her background in design, marking a transition that brought together her creative flair and a newfound passion for restoration.

Kintsugi, the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with lacquer dusted or mixed with precious metals, is where Kira expertise truly shines. Her approach to this art form is not only creative but also deeply rooted in sustainability. She utilises actual precious metals in the restoration process, adding a touch of luxury and durability to each piece. Moreover, Kira has a special focus on reviving 'forgotten' pieces - items that were crafted but never collected, giving them a new lease of life and preserving their hidden stories.

Described as creative, fun, knowledgeable, and warm, Kira embodies these qualities in her work and interactions. She enjoys meeting new people and is passionate about sharing the history and philosophy of Kintsugi. For Kira , it's not just about repairing objects but celebrating their journey and honouring their history instead of erasing it.

Her workshops are more than just learning sessions; they are immersive experiences where participants are inspired to create and appreciate the beauty in imperfection.
