Enter the wonderful world of ceramics with Anna and (re)discover hand-building and decorating techniques in this full-day workshop.
The day begins with a warm welcome from Anna, a passionate ceramicist. After a brief introduction, she will present the different types of clay and introduce you to the fascinating world of ceramics.Ā
You'll start by exploring basic hand-building techniques, such as slab work and the pinch technique, as well as decorative approaches to personalize your pieces.
Youāll discover the entire production process from start to finish, transforming a ball of clay into beautifully crafted items. Over two 3-hour sessions on the same day, youāll create up to four unique pieces. Youāll learn two primary techniques: the pinch technique with porcelain for creating hollow forms like cups, bowls, or mugs, and the slab technique using speckled stoneware clay, ideal for flat pieces such as plates, small trays, or boards. This clay is a beautiful material, speckled with tiny flecks of pyrite.
Once your pieces are completed, Anna will take care of the glazing and firing. A few weeks later, you can come back to the workshop to pick up your creations, once the firing process is complete.
Lunch is organized in a friendly potluck style where everyone brings a culinary specialty, homemade or from a favorite spot. Weather permitting, lunch can be enjoyed in the garden, with drinks provided by the workshop. A fridge and microwave are available, and coffee and tea are served throughout the day.

Pour participer Ć cet atelier, prĆ©voyez de porter une tenue confortable adaptĆ©e Ć lāatelier et au nettoyage en fin dāatelier, type legging ou pantalon. Il est Ć©galement prĆ©fĆ©rable dāavoir les ongles courts et les cheveux attachĆ©s. Enfin, si vous le pouvez, pensez Ć apporter votre propre tablier.

Meet Anna
Ceramist
Anna is originally from the West of France and studied art at Estienne, Paris, where she specialised in typography. She then chose to perfect her motion design skills at the Gobelins, l'Ć©cole de l'image.Ā
She then moved to Brussels where she lived for 8 years, working in graphic design, brand concepts, visual identity and logotype creation, as a freelance designer.Ā
After a few years, she decided to fly to North America for a road trip across the country ending at Vancouver. But it was in Toronto that she began working as a graphic designer for a year. There, she discovered ceramics, and it turned from a hobby into a real passion!Ā
She then took several courses in Toronto and Montreal with experienced ceramists and then decided to return to Brussels, her adoptive city. Anna took things further and enrolled at the Academy of Arts in Brussels to hone her skills.Ā
She now wants to teach others about what she experienced in Canada, about discovering clay as a material, the experience of calmness and feeling at peace with yourself as you work, the kind of creativity that you can develop, a passion that you can pass on to others.Ā
She can't wait to welcome you to her pleasant, cosy workshop to teach you how to model stoneware and porcelain. Meet her!

TrĆØs chouette atelier avec Anna ! Une journĆ©e hors du stress de tous les jours .... Anna est passionnĆ©e par son mĆ©tier et transmet son savoir-faire avec beaucoup de patience et de bienveillance. Dommage que ce soit trop loin pour moi pour y continuer des ateliers en semaine, car j'ai vraiment adorĆ© et cela m'aurait beaucoup plu de continuer Ć apprendre avec Anna.

Ces 2 sĆ©ances de 3h avec Anna Ć©taient extraordinaires. Nous avons dĆ©couvert les diffĆ©rentes matiĆØres, testĆ© deux techniques de poterie diffĆ©rentes, rĆ©alisĆ© les modĆØles de notre choix, le tout dans une ambiance dĆ©contractĆ©e et bienveillante. Anna sait mettre chacun Ć lāaise et nous guider avec le sourire. Le temps a passĆ© Ć une vitesse folle, vivement une prochaine session. :)
