Upon arriving at the workshop, you'll be warmly welcomed by this passionate artisan. After introductions, she'll start with a theoretical overview of the basics of her craft. You'll learn everything you need to know about willow, the different tools, and the techniques required to work with this unique material!
Then, you'll gather around Virginie for the practical phase of the workshop. Depending on the day's theme, you'll create a woven feeder with a roof, a star sculpture, or a candle holder: a charming way to decorate your garden or home, while being mindful of biodiversity!
Each option involves a specific technique, the secrets and necessary skills of which Virginie will detail step-by-step. The colour of your creation will also depend on the willows available that day.
At the end of the session, you'll leave with your unique creation, proud to show it off to your loved ones and to display in your home!
NB: A one-hour lunch break is scheduled for this workshop; remember to bring your meal to enjoy with Virginie and the other participants!

Meet Virginie
Basket Maker
After twelve years of designing and assisting an architect specialising in organic architecture and the restoration of timber-framed houses, Virginie decided to spread her wings.
Her goal? To place creativity at the heart of her professional life, while combining her need to build, her passion for gardens, and her commitment to ecology.
In 2021, Virginie launched her new project, Végétalise. She imagines and creates living willow installations for private individuals and public spaces: cabins, alcoves, plessis, woven hedges, tontines, privacy screens and more.
Based in Liège, she is particularly attuned to the greening of urban centres and seeks a balance between concrete and nature.
Enthusiastic and passionate, Virginie enjoys sharing her expertise through introductory workshops for all types of audiences.
