The workshop in detail
Invite your team to explore the creative world of woodcut printing with Alex, an experienced artisan passionate about sharing this timeless craft. You are welcome to Alex's light and bright studio in Cambridge Heath where he can host groups of up to 16 people. Alternatively Alex can travel to you for larger groups.Ā
Begin with an introduction to Alex and the printing process, gaining insight into the tools and materials you'll use, including Japanese shina plywood and Hosho paper.
Start by practicing carving techniques and inking on newsprint, allowing you to build confidence with the tools and refine your approach.Ā
Once ready, move on to creating your own design, transforming it into a striking print. Each participant will complete their unique print or you can create things together as a team.Ā
This workshop includes the option to personalise your prints with company colours or branding, just let Alex know in your request.

Introducing Alex Booker, a skilled artisan who first studied Printmaking in Brighton. Alex has been exploring the art of woodcut printing for two decades and has been sharing his passion through workshops for the past 12 years.
Alex enjoys the creativity and versatility of woodcut printing; from crafting intricate designs to simpler creations. He is drawn to the tactile and physical aspects of carving into wood and the printing itself, a process that invites both focus and freedom.
In these workshops, you'll delve into the essentials of woodcut printing, guided by this passionate craftsman who loves seeing participants light up as they create. Whether you're a beginner or looking to refine your skills, you'll find the experience deeply satisfying and hands-on.
