Meet Erna Janine, a visionary artist weaving her way through creativity and mindfulness.

Hailing from Holland, Erna Janine brings a unique touch to London as a master of the Japanese floor loom weaving technique. Her weaving machines, carefully sourced from Japan, set the stage for her artistic mastery. Erna Janine's dedication to her craft led her to undertake an immersive month-long training in Japan, where she honed her skills and continues to return for inspiration. Not limited to one discipline, she also studied traditional handcraft at the Icelandic College and even ventured to India to host conferences in recent years.

Erna Janine's expertise lies in the art of freestyle weaving, a technique that celebrates boundless creativity and allows for the creation of truly one-of-a-kind pieces, even for beginners. Her passion for this craft shines through every meticulously crafted textile.

But Erna Janine's approach extends beyond the loom. With a deep commitment to mental well-being, she advocates for the therapeutic power of craft. She believes that weaving can positively impact one's mental health and finds joy in helping others unlock their creative potential.

I really enjoyed the scarf making workshop. Very relaxed friendly atmosphere. Janine was very helpful and patient, as well as the interns. So much choice of different yarns and was really pleased with my scarf. Really want to go back and do more! Very convenient right next to Deptford station as well.

I bought this for my mum for a birthday present and we had a really great time. The teacher was really patient and great at explaining things, and it was such a satisfying, meditative process once you got the hang of it. Amazed we managed a whole scarf in under 4 hours!

This was hands down the best craft workshop I’ve ever done (and I’ve been to many!). Such a welcome atmosphere and I managed to finish making an entire scarf in the session. I was surprised and it looked really fantastic. I hugely recommend this workshop.

It is easy and relaxing to learn weaving with Janine. She helps whenever there is a problem, but she leaves you to yourself, to the loom and to the colours of the yarn, so your creativity can show up. Create how your heart tells you to! I loved the workshop so much, I almost immediately booked s second.

Received this as a Christmas gift. Totally recommend. Such a satisfying and therapeutic experience. Erna is so patient, kind and warm hearted. She holds the sessions beautifully. Also I adore my scarf. It is so rewarding to create something you can wear and treasure. I've had so many compliments already. Recommending this to everyone I know and don't let the location put you off.. The studio is just off platform 1 at Deptford.. you don't even need to exit the station.
