The workshop in detail

  • 2h
  • 1 to 20 participants
  • 15 years min.
  • Over the course of a two-hour workshop, the Stööki team offers a hands-on experience in the art of ring making. This workshop is designed to guide participants through the entire process of creating a customised ring, from initial concept to finished product.

The session begins with participants sketching out their ring designs, allowing them to translate their creative ideas onto paper. This initial step is crucial for visualising the end product. Following the design phase, attendees use a ring gauge to accurately measure the finger on which the ring will be worn. This ensures a perfect fit for their bespoke creation.

The next step involves carving the size of the wax template using a ring mandrel. This precise process forms the basic structure of the ring. Participants then begin carving into their wax templates, using the provided tools and their sketches as inspiration. This stage is where individual creativity truly comes to the fore, allowing each participant to imprint their personal style onto the wax.

An exciting aspect of the workshop is the selection of a gemstone. Participants can choose from the Stööki selection or bring their own gemstone, adding a unique touch to their ring. They then create a setting for the gemstone, integrating it into their ring design.

The final step in the workshop is to finish the master by buffing and preparing the template for casting. Once this is done, participants leave their designs in the capable hands of the Stööki Craft Makers. These skilled artisans will hand finish each design, bringing the participants' creations to life.

This workshop is not just about learning ring making; it's an opportunity to engage in a creative process, resulting in a unique piece of jewellery that holds personal significance.
