  • Join Lauren and Daniela for an intensive 2-day  workshop where steel meets skill, culminating in the creation of a handcrafted steel chair.

Over two consecutive days, immerse yourself in the multifaceted world of design, welding and assembly.

Day one is all about laying a strong foundation. Start by getting acquainted with the workshop's environment, emphasising safety protocols and the importance of personal protective equipment (PPE). Dive into the intricacies of chair design, ensuring each cut list is precise.

With steel marked and ready, transition into the welding phase. Here, you'll explore the mechanics of MIG, TIG, and ARC welding. Benefit from hands-on practice and real-time feedback from seasoned instructors, refining your technique as you go. The day winds up with the meticulous art of steel cutting, ensuring each piece aligns perfectly with the envisioned design.

Day two promises an enthralling hands-on experience. With components ready, delve into the world of assembly, understanding the nuances of heat distribution, ensuring accurate alignments and masterfully securing joints.

Once your chair frame takes shape, it's all about precision welding. As the final step, quality is key. Inspect welds for strength, smooth out any rough edges, and perfect your creation.

Equipped with tools like the TIG and MIG welder, cold-cut saw, angle grinder and more, the experience concludes with the pride of taking home a steel chair, a testament to your craftsmanship, ready to grace any space.

Dive into a world where creativity meets metal and craft your very own masterpiece!

    Metal workers

Daniela Rubino and Lauren Wilson are experienced metalworkers and artists. Both trained at prestigious institutions: Central Saint Martins and The Slade School of Fine Art. Their combined talents in welding and fabrication led to the establishment of RubinoWilson, reflecting their deep-rooted passion and proficiency in the craft.

Their workshop, a large and professional space, resonates with the buzz of creativity and the hum of machinery.

Beyond their day-to-day steelworking ventures, they're also dedicated to community outreach. Through their initiative, Ore Projects, backed by Arts Council England, they offer local youths aged 16-25 the opportunity to learn metalwork. This programme not only provides valuable skills but also aims to diversify a typically male-dominated field.

Both kind and knowledgeable, Daniela and Lauren are not just skilled steelworkers but are also mentors determined to pave the way for the next generation of steelworkers.
