Join us for an unforgettable six-hour workshop with expert woodcarver Angel. In this amazing opportunity to learn from a true master of the craft, you will discover the beauty of woodcarving.
During this detailed workshop, you will be taken through the key steps of woodcarving, starting with an introduction to the tools and techniques used, and eventually drawing and carving your design onto your wood block.
You'll be taught how to initially prepare the wooden boards, how to sharpen your tools, then Angel will teach the skill of carving with a chisel to create leaf, flower and geometrical patterns. With every movement, you will feel more confident, and eventually come away with a new skill.
But it's not all work and no play! You'll have the opportunity to grab a drink and refreshments and chat with your fellow workshop participants about their pieces, keeping you energised throughout the day.
This in-depth workshop is the perfect opportunity to learn the major aspects and techniques of woodcarving from a true expert. Each participant will leave the workshop with two beautiful wood carving patterns, showcasing the skills and techniques learned throughout the day.

Meet Angel
Woodcarver
Angel is a highly skilled Bulgarian artisan, with a passion for traditional ornamental woodcarving.
His journey began at the age of 14 when he began studying wood carving, carpentry and furniture restoration. Since then, he has mastered his craft in various countries, including Croatia, Montenegro, Spain, Scotland and now London, where he has been creating bespoke work for museums and monasteries.
Angel's speciality is traditional ornamental woodcarving, and he takes great pride in preserving these timeless woodcarving techniques. Despite his extensive experience, Angel remains humble and very approachable, his teaching style is calm and thorough.
Angel's studio is a sight to behold, it's super organised, with beautiful pieces of wood and tools satisfyingly arranged. Angel insists on only using traditional tools, which he feels produce better, more organic, results compared to modern machinery.
Overall, Angel's love for traditional ornamental woodcarving is apparent in everything he does. He is a skilled artisan who takes pride in preserving the past and teaching others how to do the same.

Our tutor - Angel - was brilliant. He was friendly, welcoming, unbelievably skilled and - probably most important - patient!! I spent a very very happy afternoon working to change a flat surface into something resembling art but best of all I learnt about the tools and the skills you need to use them and the wonderful nature of wood!
