The workshop in detail

  • 2h
  • 2 to 6 participants
  • 15 years min.
  • In this 2 hour workshop, ceramic artist Bryony introduces participants to the art of ceramic hand-building. The session begins with an introduction in a comfortable setting, where attendees can enjoy a cup of tea and familiarise themselves with the studio environment.

Guided by Bryony, each participant decides on a specific item they wish to create. The options are varied, ranging from practical mugs to decorative candle holders or elegant vases, all made with high-quality stoneware clay.

Bryony introduces the group to the basics of hand-building techniques, starting with the fundamental skill of creating a pinch pot. This initial step is crucial as it helps participants get accustomed to the feel and malleability of the clay. The focus on foundational techniques ensures that even those new to ceramics can confidently engage in the creative process.

As the session progresses, attendees shape their chosen items, bringing their visions to life. The workshop also offers the chance to select colours for their creations, adding a personal touch to each piece.

To conclude the experience, all items crafted during the workshop are glazed by Bryony, ensuring a professional finish. These glazed pieces are then sent out to the participants following the workshop.
