The workshop in detail

  • 2h
  • 1 to 6 participants
  • 15 years min.
  • In this two-hour workshop, hosted by ceramic artist Bryony, participants discover the delicate art of slip casting. The experience begins with an introduction to Bryony's studio and brand, accompanied by a warm cup of tea, setting a welcoming tone for the creative session ahead.

Bryony demonstrates the slip casting process, a technique pivotal in ceramic creation. Participants are then invited to select the colour and shape of their piece, personalising their experience. This is followed by the exciting step of pouring their first piece using porcelain casting slip, an essential material in high-quality ceramics.

Throughout the workshop, Bryony offers hands-on guidance, ensuring each participant can skilfully create their unique products. Once the pieces are beautifully marbled and cast, attendees learn to pop them out of the moulds with care. The final step involves fettling, a process of refining and smoothing the pieces to perfection.

To complete the journey, the crafted items are transparently glazed, adding a professional finish. These glazed masterpieces are then sent to the participants following the workshop.
