The workshop in detail

  • 1h30
  • 1 to 2 participants
  • 15 years min.
  • In this 1.5-hour workshop hosted by ceramic artist Bryony, participants will discover the art of porcelain slip casting. The session begins with a warm introduction to Bryony's studio and brand, complemented by a relaxing cup of tea.

Participants first follow a demonstration of slip casting, a key technique in the creation of fine ceramics. This hands-on workshop then invites attendees to pour their first piece using porcelain casting slip, a crucial component in crafting high-quality ceramics. As they delve into the process, Bryony provides continuous guidance, ensuring each participant can skilfully shape their unique creations.

The workshop takes a creative turn as participants choose their preferred colours and learn the art of marbling, adding a personal touch to their pieces. Following this, they are taught how to carefully remove their marbled and cast items from the moulds. The session ends with the fettling process, where participants refine and smooth their creations to perfection.

To complete their artistic journey, the crafted items are finished with a transparent glaze, adding a professional and elegant touch. These glazed masterpieces are then sent out to the participants after the workshop.
