  • In this five-hour workshop, David and Juliet offer a comprehensive introduction to letterpress printing in their London studio. The session begins with a welcoming cup of tea or coffee and a brief overview of the health and safety.

Participants will then learn all about the history of letterpress, and get the creativity flowing with some examples. Attendees are encouraged to sketch their ideas on paper, experimenting with different styles before a detailed demonstration of setting up the type for printing.

Next, learn to lock up the type and conduct a test print before it's time to get to work! Participants can create their own prints, experimenting with colour and shapes to bring their perfect print to life.

David and Juliet, both artists with a focus in printing, have established a modest yet meaningful presence in their field. David's journey into printing began with a personal project to create a special book. This endeavour evolved into a deeper exploration of the printing craft.

In their studio, they adopt an eco-friendly and ethical approach, emphasising the use of local materials. This not only reflects their commitment to sustainable practices but also shapes the environment of their workspace. Their aim is to cultivate a community of individuals interested in printing, encouraging experimentation and learning in a supportive setting.

Described as approachable and knowledgeable, David and Juliet create a welcoming atmosphere in their studio. Their personalities and approach to art make the space comfortable and conducive to creativity.

The motivation behind offering workshops is their enjoyment in connecting with new people. These sessions provide an opportunity for participants to delve into the world of printing, regardless of their experience level.
