  • Join Maritza for a hands-on, creative adventure in clay with her six-week hand building workshop. Whether you're new to clay or have some experience, this course is the perfect opportunity to immerse yourself in the art of hand building in a relaxed and supportive environment. Over six weekly two-hour sessions you'll explore different techniques and discover the joy of transforming simple clay into something truly special.

Throughout the course Maritza will guide you step by step, starting with slab building in the first week. You'll learn how to shape flat pieces of clay into functional or decorative objects, laying the foundations for your clay journey. In week two you'll move on to coiling, a technique where you build up layers of clay to create pots, vases and bowls. In week three it's time to try your hand at pinching - a wonderfully simple way to shape clay using only your hands.

As you progress, there will be plenty of time to practice and experiment with each technique. Creativity is encouraged and Maritza will be on hand to help you bring your ideas to life. Whether you're making small bowls that could become jewellery holders, mugs or cups for your morning coffee, or even a plant pot to brighten up your home, the possibilities are endless!

In week four you'll start to think about surface decoration, learning how to add texture and personality to your pieces. The final two sessions, weeks five and six, are dedicated to glazing and painting, where you'll add colour and texture to your creations.By the end of the course you'll feel confident in your clay skills and leave with a collection of handmade pieces!Note : The price of the workshop includes all the days defined in the description. Booking on the Wecandoo website only allows you to book the date of the first session. All subsequent sessions must be booked directly with the artisan.

Wecandoo - Meet The Find Store

    Meet The Find Store

    Ceramicist

Maritza is the owner of The Find Store, which began as a lifestyle and interior design gift shop with a focus on beautiful, sustainably made products. Driven by a desire to create meaningful experiences for her customers, Maritza expanded The Find Store to include pottery workshops. These workshops provide an opportunity for people to come together, learn new skills and explore their creativity.

The workshops are led by two experienced teachers, Saria and Lucile, who both have extensive experience in the pottery field. Saria is a full-time designer and interdisciplinary artist based in Blackheath. She began working with clay as a child in Italy and has developed her skills throughout her life. With a background in fine art, she has been actively involved in several pottery studios in London.

Lucile, originally from France, is an experienced potter inspired by nature. Her work is influenced by the shapes, colours and textures of the natural world, which she brings to her classes.

Thanks to Maritza's initiative and the expertise of Saria and Lucile, The Find Store has become a place where people can enjoy learning pottery in a supportive and creative environment!
