Discover the incredible art form of glass blowing on this in-depth full day course with Phoebe and her team.
Phoebe will welcome you into her inspiring studio space in South East London. Get yourself motivated for your class by looking through some of the amazing pieces on display. Before we get hands-on, you'll start with a brief overview of the safety procedures, glassblowing is created through the elements so it has to be treated with care and respect.
Now it's time for the real thing. You'll learn the process of 'collecting' your molten glass from the furnace, which operates at temperatures in excess of 1000 degrees Celsius. Using traditional hand tools, you'll mould and blow the molten glass into the shapes you have in mind.
The Gather team will be with you every step of the way, providing guidance and support as you create up to two pieces of your own glass. Whether you're a beginner or have some experience, the supportive and patient teaching style ensures that everyone will create something they are proud of.
Once you've completed your pieces, you'll need to leave them to cool overnight to ensure their durability. You can collect them from the studio after 48 hours or have them sent to you for an additional fee of £15.
Join Phoebe in her workshop and explore the fascinating world of glassblowing!

Meet Phoebe, a London based glassblower with over 10 years experience. Phoebe honed her craft working in both the UK and US before setting up her own studio in South East London.
What sets Phoebe apart is her commitment to sustainability. She has recently invested in innovative technology in her London hot glass studio, including electric furnaces to replace the traditional gas-fired ones. These furnaces not only melt glass efficiently, but also facilitate recycling by tinting it for new products.
Phoebe is passionate about sharing her craft with others and in her workshops, she invites participants to peek behind the curtain and experience a real working glass studio. It's a chance for people not only to learn the technical skills of glassblowing, but also to immerse themselves in a traditional craft that spans generations with a modern twist.
Whether you're an experienced artist or a curious beginner, Phoebe's workshops offer a unique opportunity to learn, create and socialise in a vibrant studio environment.
