The workshop in detail

  • 18 years min.
  • Up to 12 people
  • Host Ben and enter world of woodcraft to discover the art of spoon carving in this engaging group workshop. Over the course of the session you will be guided through each step of the process, from choosing the right wood to finishing your creation with a polished look.

The workshop starts with a warm welcome from Ben, who will introduce you to the basics of wood carving. Your group will learn about the different types of wood suitable for spoon carving and the tools they'll be using. Ben will share his expertise to ensure everyone feels confident and ready to start their project.

Ben will then demonstrate the carving techniques, showing the group how to shape the wood and create a smooth, functional spoon. His step-by-step instructions will make it easy for everyone to follow and understand each stage of the process.

After the demonstration, it's time to get hands-on! You and your fellow participants will carve your own spoons, with Ben offering support and tips throughout.

After carving, you'll explore sanding and finishing techniques. Ben will show you how to use oil to give your spoon a polished appearance, enhancing the natural beauty of the wood and ensuring a smooth finish.

At the end of the workshop you'll leave with your very own handmade wooden spoon!

    Meet Bennys Got Wood

    Wood Carver

Ben Graham, a self-taught woodcarver based in North London, brings his passion for woodworking to life through the transformation of discarded wood into unique pieces of art. With years of experience under his belt, Ben's dedication to his craft is evident in every carving he creates, and no two of his works are identical.

Beyond his artistry, Ben extends his knowledge and enthusiasm to others by hosting instructional sessions in his North London studio. He finds joy in helping individuals discover their own creative potential in the world of wood carving.

In addition to his studio work, Ben Graham operates a forest school in London, where he encourages both adults and children to reconnect with nature. Through this initiative, he promotes the idea of rediscovering the natural world and its inherent beauty.
