The workshop in detail

  • 3h30
  • 3 to 6 participants
  • 15 years min.
  • Over the course of three and a half hours, Ed will lead a workshop dedicated to the art of Challah bread, an experience designed to deepen participants' understanding and skills in traditional bread-making.

The session provides a hands-on opportunity to learn the intricacies of mixing and shaping this iconic bread, celebrated for its rich cultural heritage and delightful taste.

Participants will have the chance to explore the versatility of challah dough, from its classic braided form to variations filled with an array of savoury or sweet ingredients. Options will include the cheese, cheddar with marmite, or pesto and cheddar. For those with a sweet tooth, the workshop offers the chance to incorporate sultanas soaked in cinnamon or chocolate chips.

Participants will shape dough that Ed prepared the night before, allowing attendees to experience the entire baking process without the wait. As the shaped dough proves, the class will mix a fresh batch of challah dough. This freshly prepared dough will be taken home by each attendee to be shaped the following day, employing the techniques learned during the workshop.

By the end of the session, each participant will not only have crafted their own loaf but will also carry the knowledge and passion required to recreate the experience in their kitchen.
