Are you ready to embark on a creative journey into the art of silversmithing? Join us for an immersive workshop where you'll discover the fascinating world of metalwork and create your very own silver ring under the guidance of talented host, Tayo.
During this workshop, you'll be taken through the key steps of silversmithing, starting with an introduction to the craft and essential safety instructions. Tayo will familiarise you with the basic tools, including the torch for heat sourcing, stampers, doming block, punchers, saw blade, bench peg, rolling mill for texturing, hammers, maillets, files and triblet for size adjustment.
With different design options available, you'll have the opportunity to choose or create your own unique design. Tayo will teach you how to accurately size your ring, and then guide you through the process of cutting, forming, and texturing the metal. You'll learn the art of soldering, followed by filing and cleaning to perfect the shape of your ring. Finally, you'll polish it to a beautiful shine, ready to be worn with pride.
Throughout the workshop, you'll utilise various techniques such as soldering, hammering, and piercing to bring your creation to life. Tayo's well-equipped studio provides all the necessary machines and tools, including flames and saws, ensuring you have everything you need to unleash your creativity.
The main material used in this workshop is sterling silver, known for its elegance and durability. With this precious metal, you'll craft a stunning silver ring that will become a cherished keepsake.

Introducing Tayo, a passionate jeweller hailing from Nigeria with over 15 years of experience in the craft. Her journey to becoming a jeweller began with a serendipitous encounter during a trip to Venice, where she discovered the mesmerising Murano Beads. Captivated by their beauty and vibrant colours, Tayo's love for jewellery blossomed, eventually leading her to make the life-changing decision to switch careers. This transition not only allowed her to pursue her passion but also provided an opportunity to spend more precious time with her children.
Armed with a Higher National Diploma in jewellery and 3D design, Tayo's creativity knows no bounds. Nature and her surroundings serve as a constant source of inspiration, infusing her designs with a touch of organic beauty. Each piece she creates is a testament to her artistic vision and meticulous craftsmanship.
