This workshop is designed for two and is the perfect introduction to ceramics to share with you friend or as a couple.
Violaine will start by introducing herself and sharing her journey from graphic design to ceramics, giving you an idea of her background and expertise.
The workshop will begin with Violaine demonstrating the pottery making process, from raw clay to the finished pot. She'll show you how to use the pottery wheel step by step, breaking the process down into easy to follow instructions.
Each participant will have their own pottery wheel to work on, ensuring a personalised experience. Whether you're new to pottery or have some experience, Violaine will guide you through the process.
Once you've created your pottery, you can choose which piece to have fired. Violaine also offers the possibility of firing one additional piece for £5.
If necessary, Violaine will give the bottom of your pot a basic trim, to eliminate any excess clay.
After the first firing, Violaine will glaze your pot with a transparent or white glaze, before firing again at high temperature.
Your finished pottery will be ready for collection within 4-6 weeks. Look out for a confirmation email to let you know when it's time to collect your creations.

The studio is easily accessible by public transport. For ‘on the go’ workshops, the workshop can be organised at the location of your choice within the artisan's perimeter.

Practical information
Please bring an apron, clothes you don't mind getting dirty, and trim your nails as long nails can get in the way (also bring a hair tie for throwing sessions).
Due to limited storage space at the studio, Violaine can only keep your pots for an extra 4 weeks from the day your pot is available for collection. Uncollected pots will be donated to charity.
Meet Violaine
Ceramicist
Meet Violaine, a skilled artisan who switched from life as a Design and Art Director to ceramics after discovering the craft in 2018.
Looking for a break from fast-paced city life and deadlines, she found solace in working with clay. After joining a community studio and attending classes, she began selling her minimalist tableware, influenced by her French roots, and eventually she set up her own studio in Hackney.
Violaine continues to explore new techniques and styles, recently focusing on more surface decorations. With over three years teaching experience at a London pottery school, she now invites enthusiasts to visit her in her studio where you will be immersed in an artists space, surrounded by other makers. Whether you're a beginner or intermediate, Violaine offers a supportive environment to learn and create your own ceramics.

Violaine has a lovely energy about her and is incredibly patient. She adjusts both her language and pace to your level of experience, and she lets you try and retry (and retry, and retry) until you get it! It was a lovely studio and a fun experience. Thanks Violaine.
