The workshop in detail

  • 15 years min.
  • 3 to 10 participants
  • Up to 10 people for a privatization
  • Spanning three hours and hosted by chef Maisie, this workshop offers a unique opportunity to delve into the world of fermented drinks at Hearth Bakery.

The workshop commences with an introduction to the brand, where participants are acquainted with the foundational concepts of fermentation. This initial segment provides valuable insights into the science and technique behind this ancient process, setting the stage for the hands-on experience that follows.

Attendees are then introduced to two distinct types of fermented drinks, each originating from different cultures. This part of the workshop is not only educational but also an exploration of diverse flavours and methods. Maisie expertly guides the participants through the process, ensuring a thorough understanding of the characteristics and benefits of each drink.

Following the introduction, the participants engage in the practical aspect of the workshop. They are guided through the steps of making each drink, one at a time. This hands-on approach allows participants to immerse themselves in the process, ensuring a deeper appreciation and understanding of the art of fermentation.

At the conclusion of the workshop, participants are provided with printed recipes, allowing them to recreate these drinks at home. Additionally, they receive guidance on how to care for their fermentation jars. These jars, pivotal in the fermentation process, act as a starter culture for future drinks, embodying the continuous nature of fermentation.

Participants leave the workshop not only with new knowledge and skills but also with a jar of each drink they have made.
